What this site knows about you.
Short version: basegrid.tech runs its own analytics with no cookies and no stored IP addresses, keeps three settings in your browser, and loads nothing from third parties.
Who runs the site
The site and both products, BaseGrid IDE and ComicsGrid, are made by Kirill Sokolov. Questions about this policy go to the address in the footer.
Analytics
The site counts visits with OpenPanel, an open-source analytics tool, running on our own server at openpanel.basegrid.tech. Nothing about your visit leaves our infrastructure, and no analytics vendor sees it.
For each page view it records:
- the page address and the referring page, if any;
- browser and operating system names and versions, device type;
- country, region and city, derived from the IP address at the moment of the request — the address itself is then discarded and never stored;
- a handful of named actions on the page: switching the theme or the language, clicking a link — to a section, to another page of the site, to e-mail or to an outside site — or one of the platform buttons, and closing the statistics notice.
Visits from one browser within a day are tied together by a hash of the IP address, the browser signature and the site identifier. The hash is rotated daily and cannot be reversed, so there is no identifier that follows you from one day to the next. No cookies are set for this and nothing is written to your browser's storage.
The event log is kept on our server for up to twelve months and is used only to see which pages and sections get read. Blocking the script openpanel.basegrid.tech in your browser turns the counting off; the site works the same without it.
Stored in your browser
Three values live in localStorage: the theme you picked (bg-theme), the language (bg-lang) and a mark that you have closed the statistics notice (bg-notice). They never leave your device and disappear when you clear site data.
Requests to our servers
Pages, styles, fonts and images are served from basegrid.tech itself. The BaseGrid IDE pages also read the current version number and the list of changes from updates.basegrid.tech, the same feed the desktop application uses for updates. Like any web server, these keep standard access logs with the IP address, the requested path and the browser signature; the logs are used for security and debugging and are deleted after thirty days.
Third parties
The site loads no scripts, fonts or images from other companies and shows no advertising. Links to outside sites — GitHub, peppercarrot.com, the app stores — lead to pages governed by their own policies.
The applications
This page is about the website. BaseGrid IDE and ComicsGrid have no accounts and send no telemetry. BaseGrid IDE contacts updates.basegrid.tech only to check for a new version and fetch the list of changes; ComicsGrid does not talk to our servers at all.
Your rights and contact
Analytics records are anonymous, so there is nothing we could look up by name or address. If you write to us, the e-mail is kept only for the conversation. For any question, correction or deletion request, write to the address below.
Changes
When the site starts collecting something new, this page changes first and the date at the top moves.
